Particleboard is also known as chip board. This engineered wood product is manufactured from wood chips, sawmill shavings and saw dust. With a synthetic resin or other binder, the board is pressed and extruded.

Some of the key qualities to note for particleboard are the fact that it tends to be cheaper, denser and more uniform than conventional wood or plywood. Though denser it is lighter and weaker than fiberboard.

Particleboard is one of the primary substrates used in laminated parts in thermally fused melamine, foils, low-basis weight papers, vinyls and veneers. Panel Processing produces parts in 3/8″, 1/2″, 5/8″, 11/16", 3/4″, 1″ and 1-1/8″ thicknesses. Typical uses for laminated parts include P.O.P. display parts, components & shelving for store fixtures and cabinet components. Particleboard is also used unfinished in hidden structural parts in fixtures and displays, but it can also be utilized for its unique look for in-store shelving, table tops or fixtures, when applied with a UV fill and top coat producing a smooth finish.
